Dismantling of the unit and treatment of refrigerants, oil and other parts must be done with respect to the environment whilst protecting workers from potential risks related to exposure to harmful substances.

National and regional legislation for material disposal and protection of workers should be taken into account with regard to:

  • Appropriate handling of construction and maintenance materials when dismantling the unit. In particular when dealing with materials that contain harmful substances, such as asbestos or carcinogenic substances.
  • Appropriate disposal of the construction and maintenance materials and components such as steel, plastics, refrigerants and waste water.
